A Canadian tourist visa, also known as a temporary resident visa (TRV), is a document issued by the Canadian government that allows foreign nationals to enter Canada temporarily for tourism or to visit friends and family. It is important to note that possession of a TRV does not guarantee entry into Canada, as a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer will make the final decision on admission to Canada. In addition, conditions may be posted on your TRV and it is your responsibility to comply with these conditions during your stay in Canada.

🌎 WHO NEEDS A TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA?

Citizens of countries participating in Canada’s “Electronic Travel Authorization” (ETA) program do not need a TRV, while US citizens can visit Canada without an ETA with just an ID. In all other cases, you need a Canadian temporary resident visa.

In some cases, the exact date of leaving the country may be indicated in the passport.

🧐 TIPS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Be sure to include all required documentation and information in the application.
• Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months from your planned return date.

• Apply for a visa 1 year before your trip, as there have been cases of responses returned after 9 months.
• Old passports are not taken or renewed. You must keep the originals. If you have lost it, you can pick up the border crossing document at the service agency, which is located at Petre Kavtaradze 5a, Tbilisi. This document indicates only the number of days you left Georgia and when you returned to the country.
