New Zealand's government has updated its immigration visa in order to attract skilled workers. Under the changes, the cap on visas issued to highly skilled workers has been removed. Additionally, the duration of the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) has been increased from 3 to 5 years.
"The changes to the immigration visa will remove the artificial constraint on the number of places available each year for skilled workers, which prevents skilled migrants from settling in New Zealand even when there is a genuine need for them." - said New Zealand's Minister of Immigration, Michael Wood.
The minister also noted that attracting skilled migrants to the country will help develop sectors that are experiencing labor shortages.
Requirements for Skilled Workers' Immigration Visa
Applicants who wish to apply for the skilled workers' immigration visa must hold a job offer from an accredited employer.
Along with having an employer's offer, it's important to confirm the relevant qualifications and skills, which are assessed under a 6-point system.
To apply for the visa, the applicant must be 55 years of age or younger.
