How Do I Apply for a Caribbean Islands Visa?

You must submit your application in person. Anyone under 18 must also appear in person. Bring the documents required by the consulate with you. For every document, you should have both the original and a copy. Note that the embassy or consulate general cannot make copies for you. You must submit the completed Caribbean Islands visa application form, which must then be signed in the presence of a consulate representative.

You must present a passport or other travel document that has at least two blank pages and is valid for at least 3 months after leaving the Caribbean islands. When submitting your application, you must also present your passport. If you need proof that your passport is held by the embassy or consulate general, bring an additional copy with you. The embassy or consulate general will stamp your copy free of charge.

If you're applying for a visa on behalf of a child under 18, you must bring the child's birth certificate and an identification document for the child's parent(s) or guardian(s).

If the child isn't traveling with their parents, or if only one of the child's parents will be traveling with the child, you must present a consent declaration signed by both parents, or by whoever holds parental responsibility. If only 1 parent has parental responsibility for the child, you will need to provide a court order or a declaration from the court confirming this.

You must be able to prove that you are a legal resident of your country. For this, you can bring your passport, residence permit, or visa.

You must submit your travel itinerary - for example, a flight reservation. We recommend not purchasing tickets before receiving the visa.

If necessary, you must also prove that you can legally travel to another country after leaving the Caribbean islands. For this, show your passport, residence permit, or visa.

You must provide proof that you have sufficient funds to cover your accommodation and travel expenses. On average, this is $150 to $200 USD per day. You must also submit your 3 most recent bank statements (in paper or digital form) in your own name. You can also show signed travel checks in your name.

If you cannot prove that you have sufficient funds, you'll need a sponsor — a family member or friend located in a part of the Caribbean islands. The guarantor must complete a Financial Guarantor's Declaration. This must be done in person with the local authority, so the declaration can be legalized.

In the Caribbean islands, your sponsor can complete the guarantor's declaration through the following authorities:

Sint Maarten: Dienst Burgerzaken (Civil Registry Department)
Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba: IND Caribbean Netherlands

When applying for the visa, you must show that your sponsor has sufficient funds to cover your trip. On average, this is about $100 USD per day. For this, you must submit the following documents (obtained from your sponsor):

• The legalized sponsorship letter
• Their 3 most recent bank statements
• Their 3 most recent pay stubs
• An employer's declaration or work contact
• A copy of their passport or ID card

Employees must submit an employer's declaration stating their job title, length of employment, monthly income, and approval for leave.

Students must provide proof that they are registered as a student at a school or university.

Independent business travelers must confirm, with an official document, that they own a registered business, and show last year's tax return.

You must submit a sponsor's declaration, letter, or email confirming that you will be staying with the given person.

You must provide a copy of your accommodation booking, including contact details, as well as your reservation number. Or you must provide proof that you are participating in a group tour.

You must submit a letter of invitation from a company located in a part of the Caribbean islands, as well as a letter from your employer. Both letters must include the following information:

• Your job
• The reason for your visit

At least 1 letter must specify where you will be staying during your visit and who is covering your travel expenses.

You must submit an official document from your insurance company. It must confirm that the insurance is in your name. The document must also confirm that your insurance policy covers medical expenses:

• In every part of the Caribbean islands
• For the entire duration of your stay
• For at least $15,000 USD
• Hospital care, emergency treatment, and other expenses (including in the event of death).

If your insurance policy does not cover the above, or if you don't have an official document confirming this, you must obtain a policy that provides the coverage listed above.
